Jeff McLaren, Chief Executive Officer
Jeff McLaren founded Medaxion in 2008 to maximize information technology opportunities in the anesthesia market. Previously, he served as co-founder and CEO of Safer Sleep, LLC, a provider of anesthesia safety and record automation services in New Zealand and the UK. Jeff began his healthcare technology career as co-founder, President and Chief Product Officer of HealthStream, Inc. (NASDAQ: HSTM).
John Toups, Chief Technology Officer
John Toups oversees Medaxion’s technology strategy, outsourced product development, production server operations, and product deployment/integration architecture. As CTO for Safer Sleep, John was instrumental in achieving U.S. FDA approval and enabling successful U.S. product trials. Toups has also worked with empactHealth.com, and the Bioinformatics Department at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dyer Rodes, MD, Chief Medical Officer
Dyer Rodes, MD, provides clinical anesthesia advisory for Medaxion. He is an active clinical partner, founding partner, and former board member at Anesthesia Medical Group (AMG). Dyer was Chief of Anesthesiology at Centennial Medical Center (CMC), and has worked with Safer Sleep. Dyer received his degree in medicine from the University of Virginia School of Medicine and completed his anesthesia residency at the University of Florida.
Susan Brownie, Chief Financial Officer
With over 30 years experience in strategic business leadership and corporate governance, Susan Brownie directs all Medaxion financial and accounting matters. Prior to Medaxion, she previously served on executive teams in a wide range of healthcare ventures, including: QualDerm Partners, MyHealthDirect, Cogent/HMG, HealthStream. She received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the College of William and Mary.
Tracy Poythress, Vice President, Engineering & Product Development
Tracy Poythress manages the product development team and oversees the product development lifecycle, including specification management, feature prioritization, application engineering, architecture, and quality assurance. Prior to her work with Medaxion, Tracy owned Koru Consulting and held Quality Assurance Manager positions at Safer Sleep, Investment Scorecard, and Valley Forge Life. She is a Veteran of the United States Air Force.
David Belser, Vice President of Technical Operations
With more than 15 years of IT expertise, David Belser develops simple, elegant solutions to complex infrastructure and operations challenges. Prior to Medaxion, David was an IT Operations Manager at Teradata – a global leader in big data analytics and services. He also served as the Director of Information Technology Systems for 3D Systems / Geomagic.

Jim Graves, Chairman
Jim Graves is a managing director and partner at Erwin, Graves & Jones, LP. He co-founded BankCap Partners and is a director of BankCap Partners Opportunity Fund, LP, a Dallas-based private equity fund. He also sits on the boards of First Cash Financial Services (FCFS), Hallmark Financial Services (HALL), Atlantic Capital Bank (ACBI) and The Incarnation Foundation, a Dallas non-profit. He was previously a director of Tristate Capital Holdings (TSC) a Pittsburgh based bank holding company and was Chairman and COO of the Boston-based securities firm Detwiler, Mitchell & Co. Jim also served as COO and head of Equity Capital Markets at J.C. Bradford before it was sold to Paine Webber. Earlier in his career he worked at Citibank and Dean, Witter Reynolds (now Morgan Stanley).
Lucius E. Birch, IV
As Manager of Burch House G.P. and Burch House II G.P., Lucius Burch oversees direct venture capital deals for Burch Investment Group. He has more than 20 years of venture investing experience and serves on the boards of several privately held companies. Lucius was previously a partner at Massey Burch Capital Corp., and also worked at Prudential Bache Capital Funding.
Richard D’Antoni is Managing Partner of the national healthcare and life sciences executive search firm D’Antoni Partners, Inc. He also sits on the Boards of Onsite Health Diagnostics and Amistad Mission. Richard was formerly an investor and CEO at Pathology Partners, Inc. He also served as Director and COO of ProMedCo, and as Group Vice President for American Medical International (AMI).
Daniel R. Feehan
Dan Feehan is currently the Chairman of FirstCash, Inc. (NYSE: FCFS) and serves on the board of AZZ incorporated (NYSE: AZZ) and Enova International, Inc. (NYSE: ENVA). Dan previously served on the board of RadioShack Corporation (NYSE: RSH) from 2003 to 2015 including periods as both Lead Director and Chairman. Dan served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Cash America International, Inc. (NYSE: CSH) for 25 years. Subsequently as Cash America’s Executive Chairman, Dan led the Board and Management team into the 2016 Merger of Equals with FirstCash. Dan began his career on the audit staff of Arthur Young & Company and then served in senior management at the Wedge Group. Dan also co-founded and served as President of Greer Capital Corporation, a real estate development and hotel management firm.
